An Affordable and Creative Mother’s Day Agenda

4 min read

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, which means you may be frantically searching for the ultimate gift for your mom or that inspiring woman in your life. FRANTIC SEARCH OVER. We’ve created an affordable Mother’s Day plan for you to treat your mom to the special day that she deserves. Sure, flowers are great, and so is jewelry, but nothing is better than spending quality time with your mom. We've got the entire day planned out for you. These activities are sure to give your mom the best Mother's Day yet!

Start the day with breakfast in bed. Breakfast in bed sounds pretty simple, right? We advise amping it up a level by creating a personalized gourmet breakfast tray. Breakfast trays can be cheap to create. Here’s what you need to do to impress your mom with an upgraded version of “B in B.”

Step 1:
Find a tray to put everything on if you don’t already have one. Have a boring tray and want to spice things up a bit? A great idea is to DIY a tray with scrap paper to fit her style. Check out the examples below!

Step 2:
Select her favorite foods! Breakfast doesn’t have to involve a lot of cooking. Ideas that are easy on your wallet and include no extra time in the kitchen include fresh fruits and muffins, a yogurt parfait, or a croissant with jam or Nutella (Our mouth is watering as we type!) You get the idea, whatever suits her fancy – include it within the breakfast tray! Don’t forget her favorite coffee, juice or tea as well!

Step 3:
Add the extra touches. This doesn’t have to be elaborate, even a single flower or hand-written note will do the trick! If you’re feeling really fancy – Add some balloons as well! (Your local dollar store is sure to have some cute ones!)

No matter what your gourmet breakfast tastes like, the fact that you went the extra mile of putting it on a tray and bringing it to her will be more than enough to make her feel special :)

This one’s simple. Why waste your time and money purchasing something for your mom that she might not want or need? Tell me you haven’t sat in a store for more than 15 minutes pondering which candle scent she would prefer the most? (But wait, does she even need/want any more candles?) Make things easier for yourself by going shopping together! Not only will you be spending quality time together, but you can help her pick out something that best suits her style! You may be surprised of what you guys will find together rather than trying to guess what she wants on your own!

All that shopping is sure to have your stomach growling! If it’s warm out, take advantage of the spring weather for a picnic lunch! Don’t forget these picnic essentials:

A blanket – You can always use one you already have or perhaps purchase a new one that your mom can keep and cherish as a keepsake memory together.
Tableware – Reusable cups, plates and utensils, napkins, etc. (Or whatever you have lying around in your kitchen.)
The food - Keep it easy, but delicious – You can reuse some of the food you made from breakfast and also hit up your local deli for some freshly sliced proteins (ham, prosciutto, turkey, etc), slice up a loaf of bread, and you’re good to go! Homemade cookies are always a great dessert option, just saying :)

It’s afternoon by now and you and your mom have probably had a long and tiring day. What better way to unwind than with a relaxing DIY home spa treatment. A DIY spa can be super inexpensive. Before getting into the details, we recommend using the 7-in-1 Spin Brush which can be purchased here. Not only will it be perfect for this occasion, but your mom will be able to keep it and treat herself to a spa on her own terms. Here’s how to create a spa treatment to remember:

Facial Treatment

Step 1: Cleansing
Wash face with the cleansing brush head. This will remove any makeup, dirt, etc.
Step 2: Exfoliation
Exfoliate her face with the exfoliating form head. Did you know? - Exfoliation not only removes dead skin, but it also reduces skin discoloration, fine lines, and wrinkles.
Step 3: Steam Treatment
This one isn’t necessary, but worth it if you’re willing to put in the extra effort. You’ll need to fill a bowl with water and stick it in the microwave for about 1 minute. Be extra careful with the hot bowl of water (we recommend using oven mitts to carry it. Sit it on a flat surface and drape a towel over your mom's head.
Step 4: Masking
Masking (yes, that’s a real term), is food for the skin. Remember, you can't mask without proper exfoliation first. Think of it this way - The ingredients in the mask won’t penetrate your skin if you have a layer of dead skin cells on the surface blocking them. Once you’ve completed step 2, feed your skin with these au naturale skin masks.

Let the mask sit for 15 minutes so it has time to work its magic. Let your mom lie back and place two cool cucumber slices over her closed eyes. If you don’t have cucumbers, chilled tea bags will work just as well!

Step 5: Rinse your face and pat it dry.
Step 6: Give your mom a facial massage with her favorite moisturizer

Your Mom can also give herself a full body treatment by attaching the extendable handle to the spin brush and using the large body brush head and the rolling massager head.
